Central Alabama Red Devils Defeat Alabama Avengers 25 to 14 Posted on March 16, 2011 by admin The first quarter began with a defensive struggle where each team only had one first down. With 8:06 remaining in the 2nd quarter the Avengers struck first when they intercepted a Allen Edwards pass and returned it 47 yards for a touchdown. The run for the extra point failed. Still in the 2nd quarter Christian Briscoe threw a 36 yard pass to Jamar Hobson which set up a one yard run for the Red Devils’s first score by Briscoe with 4:12 remaining in the quarter. The run for the extra point was no good. The score at the half was 6 to 6. The Red Devils began the 2nd half with a 64 yard drive for a touchdown. The touchdown was scored by Hobson as he caught a 10 yard Briscoe pass with 9:28 left in the 3rd quarter. The extra poing by Edwards was good to put the Red Devils in the lead at 13 to 6. The Avengers wasted no time in scoring again. With 6:28 left in the 3rd quarter they capped off their first drive of the 3rd quarter with a 15 yard pass for a touchdown. The run for the extra point was good and the Avengers led again at 14 to 13. The Red Devils had their passing game working as Briscoe completed a 39 yard pass to Jeremy Anderson. Then with 0:00.8 seconds left in the 3rd quarter, Briscoe threw a 10 yard touchdown pass to Hobson for the touchdown. The extra point failed. The Red Devils lead the Avengers 19 to 14 at the end of the 3rd quarter. With 13:10 remaining in the 3rd quarter a bad snap by the Avengers was recovered in the end zone by Brian Frith for a touchdown. This gave the Red Devils a 25 to 14 lead as the extra point failed. Some Standouts on the defense for the Red Devils were Darion Parker, Trent Reed, and Joshua Jones. The final score was Central Alabama Red Devils 25 and the Alabama Avengers 14. |
