Brett got the first goal of the season, his first goal since 9-year-olds, to open the scoring at 4:33 of the first period, assisted by Mark. Richmond came back to tie the score less than a minute later. Matthew scored his first goal of the season to give us back the lead with just 48 seconds left in the first period, assisted by Tristan. Derek scored, also his first of the season, at 6:29 of the second period, assisted by Alex, for a 3-1 lead going into the third period. Richmond managed to tie the game again with two quick goals at 6:28 and 5:23 of the third period, and despite lots of pressure by both forwards and defense we were unable to put one more in for the win.
Although the boys played very well shorthanded (all 3 of our goals were short-handed) 18 minutes in the penalty box was a little much.
Taylor earned a shutout for his half of the game and Dan also played well, stopping most of the shots that came his way.
Some good hockey to start the season, the boys did well even with a lot of new line combinations and for some new positions temporarily.
The team has lots of potential this year, keep up the good work, boys!
