Notes:
The boys came up big to win our match 5-4 against the 2-time city champion Champlain team, despite missing 7 players from our official roster. Champlain opened the scoring with 3 quick goals early in the first period, so things were looking a little grim at first. In the second period, the boys came out strong and Mark B scored, assist to Jarrell, again on loan from VV12A2, to narrow the gap going into the third. Mark B was on fire tonight, scoring a shorthanded goal at 13:36 of the third, assist to Steven, and again at 9:16 of the third, assists to Louis and Bryce, for the natural hat-trick, the first by anyone on our team this season. Louis scored the go-ahead goal at 8:53 of the third, assists to Cameron and Bryce. Champlain managed to tie the game at 5:57 of the third, but the team didn't give up, and Mark B scored again with 4:04 left in the third, assists to Louis and Bryce, to win the game. An early start to the game forced Taylor onto the ice without much of a warm-up, but after an understandably shaky start he shut the door and kept the team alive. Mark B earned the player of the game. |
