Posted Nov 2/13 - Riels Streak ends at 12

FIRST PERIOD

Raiders opened the scoring early at 2:36 on a goal by Cole Thalman assists went to Eric Hansey and Ryan

Seekings. The Riels tied it at 8:38 by some hard work from Skylar Eastman who finished off a play from

Mark Sharman and Sean Christensen.

Then at 15:47 of the first, Russell Trudeau scored a nice goal with assists coming from Brett Charette and

Sean Christensen. The period ended 2 – 1 Riels. Riels out shot the Raiders 15 -13.

SECOND PERIOD

Raiders Kyle Jur scored at 4:14 from Loeppky and Lazo to knott the game at 2 – 2.

Then Brian Michiels scored his first of three at 11:54 with assists going to Gorrie and Gauthier.

Riels fell asleep 15 seconds later when Mike Lazo scored from Loeppky and Jur at 12:09 to tie it again

at 3 – 3.

Two minutes later on a power play, Brian Michiels scored from captain Michael Gorrie that ended the

period 4 – 3 Riels. Raiders out shot Riels 19 -16.

The Riels had a chance late of the second to make it a two goal spread on a power play when Russell

Trudeau sniped a shot and beat net minder Mat McIntosh only for it to nail the cross bar.

THIRD PERIOD

You knew the Raiders would come out flying in the third and they did score two quick goals less than two

minutes to take the lead 5 – 4.

Nick Matthews scored Raiders third goal from Ryan Magalas and Tanner Magalas at 1:26.

Then eighteen seconds later, Cole Thalman scored from Dumonceaux and Batt. Riels tied the game at

8:12 from Brett Charette unassisted.

Raiders then took charge on the power play when Mike Lazo scored from Nik Lynam and Nicholas

Loeppky to make it 6 – 5 Raiders.

Then at 13:43, the Riels tallied on the power play, Brian Michiels third goal of the evening with assists

coming from Gorrie and Christensen.

Raiders scored a goal at 16:22 from Kyle Jur from Loeppky and Lazo.

That was the last straw that ended the streak of 12 games. Full credit given to the Raiders hockey club

that never quit.

It was a tough night for goal tending on both ends. Riels positive note on the game was solid defensive

play from Miguel Gauthier and Sean Christensen.

The Riels know what it’s going to take to get the next game back on track. Overall it was a tough loss for

the boys but also a good one. It was a great game end to end. Just like a playoff game.

THREE STARS

First star Miguel Gauthier, second star Sean Christensen and third star Brian Michiels.
