Posted Nov 27/13 - Riels Overpower Vics

FIRST PERIOD

Riels opened the scoring at 5:57 on the power play when Sean Christensen drilled a shot and beat Vics net minder Nolan Bray with assists coming from Skyler Eastman and Jens Giesbrecht.  The Vics evened up the score at 9:34 when Brad Angus beat Riels goalie Ryan Brown with help from Mason and Moore.  Then at 14:27 on the power play, Riels defenseman, Travis Ziprick finished off a beautiful 3 way passing play with assists coming from Brett Charette and Matt Morency.  That’s how the first period ended 2-1 Riels.  Riels out shot Vics 15-9.

 

 

SECOND PERIOD

Riels scored at 5:15 of the second frame when Charette scored with assists coming from Dies and Trudeau, which made it 3-1 Riels.  Brian Michiels knotted the next goal at 11:23 with assists coming from Gorrie and Young.  The Riels out hustled the Vics in that period winning all the battles and good hard skating.  Then at the 13:00 minute mark, Riels scored their 5th goal from Russell Trudeau with assists coming from Charette and Ziprick.  That made it 5-1 after two periods.  Vics starting net minder Nolan Bray was removed and Eric Pion took over after the Riels made it 5-1.  Riels out shot the Vics 17-10.

 

 

THIRD PERIOD

Riels forward Chris Prejet scored at 1:07 of the third with assists coming from Giesbrecht and Ziprick.  Then at 2:58, Riels sniper, Russell Trudeau scored his 21st goal with help from Charette and Gorrie.  That made it 7-1 Riels.  Vics Mason scored at 4:45 with assists coming from Angus and Moore.  Riels hard working line of Eastman, Prejet and Giesbrecht come to play every night.  They have a special role on this team and they do it well.  Tonight they scored two goals at 5:45 of the third when Skyler Eastman put one past Pion with assists coming from Prejet and Giesbrecht.  That made it 8-2 Riels.  Vics Easton Hanna scored at 7:25 with assists coming from Angus and Melna. 

Riels had the last goal of the night at 15:40 mark when speedster Artur Raevskiy sniped shot top cheddar on Vic’s net minder Eric Pion.  Assists came from Mark Sharman and Ryan Wilgosh.  The final score 9-3 Riels.  Riels outshot the Vics 11-9 in the third with 43-28 overall.  Riels net minder Ryan Brown made 25 saves for the victory.

 

 

THREE STARS

First star was Jens Giesbrecht, second star Skyler Eastman and third star Chris Prejet.
