Posted Dec 4/13 - Riels Win Their 20th in O.T.

FIRST PERIOD

A hard fought battle, close checking, end to end just like a playoff game.  The Raiders scored the only goal in the first on the power play when Jordan Lisowick beat Riels goalie Kyle Vandemosselaer with assists coming from Nicholas Loeppky and Eric Hansey.  Both goaltenders played solid in the first period.  The Raiders outshot the Riels 11-10.

SECOND PERIOD

Riels came out hard in the second, winning the battles low causing the Raiders to take a couple of penalties.  The Riels veteran forward, Chris Prejet scored his 4th of the season at 6:52 when he came down the right wing and blasted the puck past net minder Brenden Fiebelkorn to tie the game at 1-1 with help coming from Skyler Eastman and Sean Christensen.  Raiders took the lead back at 2-1 at the 9:00 minute mark when Tanner Magalas scored his 13th of the season from Ryan Seekings.  There would be no more scoring in the period.  The Riels outshot the Raiders 14-10.

THIRD PERIOD

The third period could of went either way.  The Riels killed off a Raider power play early in the 3rd.  Then the Raiders returned the favor killing Riel power play at 4:05, then again at 7:49.  Finally the Riels beat net minder Fiebelkorn on the power play at 9:39 when defensemen Ryan Wilgosh blasted the puck, top cheddar, with assists coming from Brett Charette and Russell Trudeau that tied it at 2-2.

Overall great goaltending from Riels net minder Kyle Vandemosselear and Raiders goalie Brenden Fiebelkorn.  The Raiders outshot Riels in the third period 12-10.  Overall Riels 37-34.  The score ended 2-2 ties after 60 minutes.

OVERTIME
Riels continued their hard work early in O.T.  On the second shift at 1:37 of O.T., Brett Charette and Brian Dies worked the puck down low deep in Raiders territory when Dies came out from the corner and directed the puck towards the Raiders net and the puck deflected off a Raider defender and found the net to bolster the Riels to a hard fought victory 3-2 in O.T.  That gave the Riels their 20th win of the season.
