Posted Jan 10/14 - Riels Fall Short

FIRST PERIOD          

Riels opened the scoring at 5:43 on the power play when Brian Michiels scored his 18th of the season with assists coming from Ryan Wilgosh and Glen Young. 

Raiders tied the game at 10:11 when Kyle Jur finished off a 3-way passing play that beat Vandemosselaer with assists coming from Loeppky and Lazo. 

Then late in the period at 19:36, Riels forward Russell Trudeau scored his 25th of the season with helpers coming from Charette and Morency.  That ended the 1st period 2-1 Riels.  Shots on goal were Riels 12-8.

 

SECOND PERIOD

Raiders owned the second period winning the battles and outskating the Riels and it paid off with 2 goals. 

First Nik Lynam scored his 8th of the season at 4:04 with assists coming from Rasmussen and Thalman. 

Then at 7:43, Ryan Seekings stole the puck and went in all alone and scored a nice goal unassisted to make it 3-2 Raiders after two.  Raiders outshot the Riels 16-6. 

Riels net minder Kyle Vandemosselaer kept the Riels in the hunt making some key stops.

 

THIRD PERIOD

The Riels started out in the third period working hard, taking it to the Raiders in the first ten minutes. 

It easily could have been 6-3 Riels, but net minder Brenden Fiebelkorn for the Raiders shut the door. 

Then at 10:15 Raiders forward Tanner Magalas sored his 19th of the year unassisted to make it 4-2 Raiders.  Thats how it ended.  Riels outshot the Raiders 11-10 in the 3rd period.

 

THREE STARS

First star Ryan Wilgosh, second star Brock Bram and third star Kyle Vandemosselaer.

 

COACHES CORNER

   We had chances to score, but didn’t capitalize.
