Riels 1 vs Raiders 7

FIRST PERIOD

Raiders rally to take 3 games to 1 win in the series.  Raiders jumped into a 2-0 lead after the first period.  First goal came off the stick of Tanner Magalas on the power play from Mike Lazo at 13:52.  Then less than a minute later at 14:31, Ryan Seekings scored to make it 2-0 Raiders with help from Nik Lynam and Cole Thalman.  Riels out shot the Raiders 17-9 after one period.  Riels veteran goalie Kyle Vandemosselaer started this game after having a concussion on the last game of the semi-final series against the Hawks.  Kyle just did not look himself in the first period.  On the other side of the rink, Raiders net minder Brenden Fiebelkorn was stellar.

SECOND PERIOD

Raiders came out hard again scoring two goals in the first three minutes of the second to take a command lead 4-0.  First it was Nicholas Loeppky from Tanner Magalas and Nick Matthews at 1:27.  Then it was Tanner Magalas, second of the evening on the power play at 2:50 with assists coming from Nicholas Loepkky and Jordan Lisowick.  Riels had power play chances in the second and totally dominated the remainder of the period but just could not beat Fiebelkorn who played unreal.  Finally at 14:15 mark, Artur Raevskiy blasted a puck top shelf glove side to get the Riels on the board with assists going to Brian Dies and Russell Trudeau.  Riels played hard all period, but could only muster one goal.  Riels net minder Kyle Vandemosselaer was pulled out of the goal with three minutes into the second period.  Ryan Brown came in on his relief and finished off the second period and remainder of the game.  Ryan made some good saves stopping all 13 shots in the second.  Riels out shot the Raiders 22-13 in the second.  The Riels had a great second period, but it seemed after the second they had nothing left in the tank.

THIRD PERIOD

The Riels main problem tonight was again their power play chances of 0-6.  After for games, the Riels are 1-17.   That’s the difference of the series.  Raiders scored three more goals in the 3rd frame.  Kyle Jur scored at 1:40 with help from Ryan Magalas and Carson Rybuck.  Then at 3:50, Eric Hansey scored from Nik Lynam and Cole Thalman.  At 13:46, Tanner Magalas got his hat trick from Nick Matthews and Nik Lynam.  That was the worst defeat this year for the Riels and they have not lost three straight all year.  But you got to remember, its not over till its over.  Raiders still have to win one more, but hopefully the Riels have something to say about that.

“Good Luck Riels” Come out fighting hard on Saturday night 7:30 at Southdale.
