ABOUT CSFLBA

The Cudahy-St. Francis Little Baseball Association (CSFLBA) is administered by a volunteer Board of Directors made up of people who have a passion to volunteer and help provide and maintain an organization that has been around for more than 50 years. Anyone interested is welcomed and encouraged to offer their constructive input on the running of the organization.

VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers like you help make the Cudahy-St. Francis Little Baseball Association work, so please, get involved. It is not just for the managers, coaches, umpires and board members. It is also for you the parents/guardians.

There are many ways to lend a hand that don’t require you to quit your job. Volunteers are needed to help with the concession stand, game day set-up, clean-up, building and grounds maintenance, scorekeeping, tournaments, sponsorships, team parent, managers, coaches, baseball clinics, etc.

MANAGER/HEAD COACH
Is in charge of the team on the field. Managers attend an orientation before the league draft to get additional information about their job duties and responsibilities. A coach’s clinic is held after the draft at which they will learn helpful drills and tips for running an effective practice. Manager’s meetings are held monthly during the year. Managers receive all information to be distributed to their teams by their division president and or the board members.

ASSISTANT COACHES
Works with players under the Manager. Assistant coaches are also encouraged to attend the coaches’ orientation and any training clinics that may be available. They also assists the team manager with practices, game stats, game write-ups, and helps type them up and submit them (via e-mail) to the communications director for publications in local papers and website.

TEAM PARENT
Acts as an administrative assistant to the manager. This person helps distributes league information including game schedules, handles or delegates scorekeeping, snack shack worker schedule, field umpire schedule, game treat/snack list and can even help with team communications and game write-ups.

UMPIRES
Control and run the game on the field. CSFLBA provides a paid umpire behind the plate. The visiting team supplies the field umpire. An Umpire Clinic is offered to all umpires to provide training and to familiarize you with the rules for your division. Umpires also receive league-issued uniform shirts. Protective equipment is also provided for plate umpires.

T-Ball and Challenger Baseball use batting tee’s and or coach pitch. The other divisions all have players pitch. The number of teams fielded in each division depends on the number of players registered with the league. Players are placed on teams through the draft process if they are new to the league, or are eligible to move to the next division. There are no tryouts for league play. Players whose parents or guardians have volunteered for key positions will be placed on the respective teams. Siblings eligible for the same league will be placed on the same team if the parents desire. If eligible by age, players will remain on the same team as the prior year. The league does not honor requests for special placement of players on teams.

All players are encouraged to try all fielding positions, players get equal playing time, and concepts of baseball education and fun are stressed to all players.

Practices are arranged by the managers in spring and are held during the month of April and May and possibly continuing into the season. Exhibition games are scheduled by the division presidents and played during the spring. Season schedules will be distributed by managers and coaches. Each team will generally play two games per week throughout the months of May, June, and July. Midway through the season in June, the Annual CSFLBA All-Star games are played. Following the regular season, in late July, there is a playoff and World Series games for the hardball divisions.
