Today’s Truck Technicians are a critical link in our nation’s supply chain and economy...SuperTech competitions honor these very important persons’ talents, skills, and contributions in keeping America strong.

The Technology & Maintenance Council’s National Technician Skills competition, TMC SuperTech, is an annual event held in conjunction with TMC’s Fall Meeting. The event isorganized by the TMC’s Professional Technician Development Committee.  TMC’s SuperTech is North America’s premier skills competition for professional commercial vehicle technicians.  TMC SuperTech contestants come from all parts of the trucking industry, and many are state, regional or corporate champions.

SuperTech California is the California Trucking Association’s (CTA) Statewide competition which selects California’s Champion Technician who represents California and the CTA at the National Competition.

SuperTech competitions are designed to measure a technician’s knowledge of heavy-duty class 8 trucks and trailers, including both theory and practical application.  Technicians begin with a written test prepared by the ASE, followed by hands on skills stations.  Each challenge has been designed to test general knowledge in each functional area, with-out the need for expert familiarity with any particular tool, vehicle system or vehicle.

The first CTA California SuperTech competitions were initiated in 2010 by Mike Siebert, Director of Maintenance, Apex Logistics LLC and Dan Souza, Vice President of Maintenance, Mountain Valley Express.

According to Mike, “With four successful SuperTech’s under our belts there is no doubt that California SuperTech competitions will prosper for many years to come.  I am very happy to have been able to work with so many great individuals and organizations to get such a competition going that not only honors the skill of Commercial Vehicle Technicians, but also the critical role they play in keeping California and our Country  running strong.”

2015 solidifies the California SuperTech as a long term annual event honoring truck technicians.  2015  will continue an all online / web registration and online “written” testing capability keeping the California SuperTech operations just as advanced as the Trucking Industry itself.
