Crookston Champs in the Northern League (from Legendary Locals of Crookston)
In the late 1920s and 1930s, Minor League Baseball’s Northern League had the following teams: Crookston Pirates, Winnipeg Maroons, Grand Forks Chiefs, Fargo-Moorhead Twins, Duluth Dukes, Superior Blues, Eau Claire Bears, and the Wausau Lumberjacks. The 1928-1929 Crookston champs are, from left to right, (sitting) Arthur Leonard, “2-Bagger Andy” Anderson, pitcher Beryl Millet, Paul Dudley (Red Owl Store Manager), Pete Tulley, and Mr. Feller; (standing) Clarence Peltier, Vernon Peltier, Karsten Roisum, Maynard Stargid, Sid Parnus, Milton “Skip” Hendrickson, and Ed Vinje.
