Supers Spoil Yankees Debut

Posted May 12, 2010

The Supers started the season off with a bang at Jubilee Park in Yorkton, scoring 6 runs in the top of the first inning as they cruised to an 8-1 victory over the Yorkton Yankees. The Supers tallied 8 runs on 9 hits, drawing 5 walks and one hit batter.

Derek Palagian tossed 6 innings, giving up just one earned run while scattering only a handful of hits to limit the Yankees attack to pick up the win (1-0).

The offence woke up early in this contest, as the Supers recorded 6 runs on 5 hits, 2 walks and a hit batter in the top of the 1st. Ryan Kitchen (Hooters) led the Supers offence going 3 for 3 with a run scored, a stolen base, and an rbi. Great job Hootz, I think you can walk on water after tonight's performance.  Tom Cook was 1 for 1 with 2 walks, a run and a stolen base. Greg Andreychuk was 2 for 4 with 2 rbi's and a stellar backward K to start the season off. Others recording hits for the Supers were Graham Lamb, Jeff Bahrey, and Russ Sarauer. Lamber and Trevor Latham each scored 2 runs while Basic had 2 rbi's. Daulton Cook had a nice debut for the Supers, drawing an rbi walk in his first at bat in senior baseball. Great job kid.

The game originally scheduled for tomorrow (May 13) with the Swan River Reds has been cancelled, and rescheduled to June 2. Instead, we will be rebuilding our pitching mound. The earlier we could get there, the better. Even if you can't make it until later in the evening, no problem, just get there and help out when you can. Our mound finally won't suck anymore.....YES!
