Brothers to square off in Armena?

Rumours are swirling that Tuesday night could split a household and maybe a friendship, plus create a sibling rivalry not seen in the Powerline Baseball League since a few years ago when Powerline veterans Ronnie and Donnie Oslund squared off against each other.

Tuesday night’s tilt between the visiting Leduc Milleteers and the Armena Royals pits probable starters Ryan Walker for Leduc versus his younger brother Mark for Armena.

Both Walkers have seen action this season on the hill, but it’s the younger brother Mark’s offence that has impressed Royals’ front-office staff so far.

Armena’s Walker has a .524 batting average with 5 RBI on the season. He’s morphed into the lead-off man for a team that struggled last season at times to get aboard.

Ryan’s offensive totals aren’t too shabby this year either, with a .394 average and 3 RBI.

Which makes the night even more interesting as two solid hitters, who are from the same household, will meet mano-a-mano at Anniversary Park Tuesday night.

This after just three days ago in Saturday’s matchup between the two teams, we saw Ryan and the Milleteers win round one in a 12-4 affair that saw Mark ground out to his brother at third twice.

Game time in Armena is 7 p.m. Expect a boisterous crowd of Walkers cheering for both sides most of the night.
