Milleteers get to Royals
What was billed as a blood feud as brothers were to square off on the hill tonight with both teams entering the matchup on two game win streaks ended up a little anti climactic. The elder Walker brother is on the DL with a hip flexor so the Milleteers handed the ball to Greg Jackson, who himself is fresh off the DL with a sore elbow. Things started off good for Greg as he got through the first only throwing four pitches, then he battled wildness and the unique grade A topsoil mound in Armena and had to be yanked in the third inning after giving up three runs. The Doyle brothers Murray and Kevin came in and shut the door in relief as they only gave up one run the rest off the way.

Normally if the Milleteers give up three runs that means they lose or have to go to extra innings, but tonight was a different story as they plated a season high sixteen runs. The offense received a boost to the middle of the order tonight as Karl Zimmer made his Milleteers’ debut this year after having an excellent season last year. He did not disappoint as he scored three runs and added a ground rule double. The rest of the offense was helped out by a few errors, some bad gravel pit hops, and an unheard of fifteen walks. Add in some timely hits and that many free base runners makes for a blowout.

Next up for the Milleteers is the cellar dwelling Tofield Lakers tomorrow night in Leduc. The Lakers should be hungry as they need to start putting some wins together if they hope to make the playoffs. Game time is 7:00pm.
