Bulldogs Have Won Five Out Of Six!
Posted April 14, 2021
The Baseball Bulldogs have now won five out of six games after a doubleheader sweep of the Fellowship of Christian Athlete Flames on Tuesday, April 13. Hampton has now won four in a row against the Flames since a March 19, 2019 loss at FCA (a game Hampton wasted a good performance by Caleb Royston in his first career start as a 2019 freshman).
Doubleheader Notes:
*Sophomores Josh Whitson and Brody Hicks both earned their first career Varsity wins and threw their first career Varsity complete games in the doubleheader sweep.
*Sophomore, Jaden Capps collected his first career Varsity base knock, a single to right field in the second game.
*Morgan Lyons had four hits on the day. Three of them came in the second game, with one of the hits being a double to left field that was close to leaving the yard. Morgan had 5 RBI in the doubleheader.
*Rookie, Chance Point had four hits on the day, scored four runs, and stole two bases. Point and Lyons at the top of the Bulldog order is proving to be a powerful combination.
*Parker Henry is quitely playing a quality centerfield for the Bulldogs in 2021, getting good reads and jumps on balls as he did as a 2018 freshman.
*Caleb Royston brought the big stick out in game two, as the junior hit two doubles over the head of the Flames centerfielder. Roy knocked in three runs in the game. For Caleb, it was his third 2B in the last two days.
*Conor Jones continues to impress and improve, as the football QB turned baseball player had two base knocks in game one, collecting and RBI before collecting another RBI in game two when he got down a suicide squeeze bunt which plated McKinley Kuhn.
*Hampton is now over .500 on the season and 6-2 at Scotty Bunton Field.
*2020 Baseball Bulldogs, Hunter Haynes and Josh Stout were at the ballpark on Tuesday, as was former Bulldog Baseball head coach, Doug Phillips.
