News and notes from Hampton Baseball's sweep of the North Greene Huskies.
*We must improve on defense!
*Jayden Kuhn had 3 RBI on Monday at North Greene, then hit a walk-off grand slam over the left field wall on Tuesday night at Scotty Bunton Field. In addition to the slam, Kuhn earned the win in his one inning of relief work in the top of the 7th.
*It must be pointed out that Josh Whitson had a combined 5 hits in the two games, scored 3 runs, and stole a base. It's nice to see J-Whitty starting to relax with the stick in his hand. Nothing needs to be said about his 12 strikeout performance in 6 innings in Baileyton on Monday night!
*It was nice to see Jaden Hensley give us a pinch hit double off of the bench to start the 7th on Tuesday night. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come for the junior, who has shown the ability to hit the ball well in practice settings.
*Freshman, Elisha Henson had three hits in the two game sweep, including hitting two doubles (2B).
*Sophomore, Noah Nichols recorded four walks (BB) on Monday and Tuesday night combined.
*Collecting hits, scoring runs, stealing bases, we know what Chance Point does. The tough part for Mr. Point is we expect him to be perfect, which no one can live up to, but he is a game changer for HHS Baseball.
*Striking out the side on Monday to earn the save, and gutting it out, out of the Bulldog bullpen on Tuesday, to go along with two hits and several hard hit balls, Johnathan Greenwell's fingerprints were all over the Bulldog sweep of the Huskies.
*Freshman, Tuff Robinson had been getting hit for by the Designated Hitters, but given an opportunity to swing the bat on Monday and Tuesday, Tuff consistently put the bat on the ball, which is a nice sign for our offense.
*There is no way to know, but freshman, Jamie Turbyfill may have set a program record by being hit by four pitches on Monday night. The big first baseman rested on Tuesday, but we look forward to him being back in our lineup on Thursday,
*On Monday senior, Brody Hicks collected a hit, scored a run, stole a base, and knocked in two runs. On Tuesday the lefty gutted it out on the mound and had a big hit late in the game.
