A big night in the Santa Clara Baseball league.
In Portage, The Padres host the A's. Portage has dropped two straight and sits at 3-2 on the season, Meanwhile, Austin continues to impress with a 4-3 record thus far. Alex Klassen and Brendon Reimer have been leading the charge for Austin both on the mound and at the plate. Klassen is batting 692, and has struck out 23 batters over 21 innings. Reimer is batting .492 with 2 homers, and has 2 complete game victories for the surging A's. For Portage Joey Moffatt is batting 625 and Jayson Brooks not far behind with a 556 average. Will Hlady has been a force striking out 28 batters in 21 innings.
In Carberry, The Royals host the Cubs. Carberry had their 3 game win streak snapped on Friday and now sit at 3-4 on the season. Neepawa right on their heels hits at 2-5 so far this year. Carberry boasts Torey Scott with a 409 average and 5 stolen bases, meanwhile Neepawa counters with Garrett Rempel who is batting .583.
In Minnedosa, The Mavericks host the Pirates. Minnedosa has struggled early after winning their opener they have dropped 5 straight, including a walk off loss to Neepawa last week. The Pirates however have been on cruise control sitting at a perfect 6-0. Minnedosa will challenge Plumas with veterans Jay Klym and Andrew Richards batting 600 and 444 respectively. Plumas will turn to early MVP candidate Zac Yandeau who boasts a 682 average, leads the league with 4 Homers, 19 RBIs,and a 2.175 OBPS - On the mound, Plumas has been lead by Rylan Denbow, with two wins and a save, he could be on the mound tonight. The Mavericks will have young righty Luke Gugin available, as well as the veteran John Hutton.
