Caleb Royston threw the first Bulldog no hitter since 2019 (Josh Owens vs. the Cloudland Highlanders). The junior right hander was in control with both his four seam and two seam fastballs. Royston struck out seven in his four innings of work, throwing only 54 total pitches. He was aided by a 10 hit offense.
Morgan Lyons is starting to put together a special season. The junior had three more hits on Monday (4 RBI) to raise his season average to .500! Lyons has now scored 18 runs, stole 11 bases, knocked in 20 runs, and been on base almost 53% of the time! Freshman, Chance Point was back on base for the Bulldogs, as he hit his first extra base hit of the seaon (a double in the top of the 3rd), drew a walk, reached on an error, and was hit by a pitch. Point scored three runs and stole his 17th base of the season.
Parker Henry had another bunt for a hit and had a solid base knock in the top of the 4th. Josh Owens, on the day he learned he would be spending a considerable amount of time at the designated hitter position, had two hits, including a double in the 4th. McKinley Kuhn hit two balls were Unaka defenders weren't, both times with multiple runners on base, to collect four RBI on the day himself.
Unaka makes their way to Scotty Bunton Field on Tuesday for a 4:30 JV first pitch and a 7:00 Varsity first pitch. Chance Point will take the ball for the JV squad and sophomore, Josh Whitson, coming off of a real good outing in relief Friday at South Greene, will make his second start of the seaon in the night game
