Opening weekend for the SW Jets brings mixed results!

Posted October 28, 2021

After losing forward Haven Wiebe with a broken collarbone sustained in an exhibition game, the Jets opened their regular season at home against the Kenora Thistles Saturday October 23rd. Kenora sprung out to a 2-0 lead that put the Jets in an early hole. After notching a goal in the second period to come within one goal, the Jets then came back with another two goals in the third and managed to hold on to earn their first win of the regular season.

The Jets then hit the road to Steinbach on Sunday to take on the Blizzard. Unfortunately the Blizzard came out strong, scored early and never looked back on the way to beating the Jets 6-2. The bright spot of the game was the third period effort by the Jets as they came out after the flood with grit and determination. It unfortunately wasn’t reflected on the scoreboard but was a good building block for their next game.

Coach Jason Hudson said that overall he was impressed with the way the team has come out of the gate this season, and expects big things and great results. He said the team has put in some good work at practice and are getting used to some systems that have been put in place by the coaching staff.

Next up your SW Jets hit the road to Rosenort Sunday October 31st where they face the Pembina Valley Twisters in which is certain to be a great match.
