Successful Weekend for the SW Jets
Posted November 14, 2022
The SW Jets rebounded this past weekend after taking their first loss of the season last weekend! The Jets started the weekend off at home in Niverville against the Pembina Valley Rockets. Getting the start in goal for the Jets was Derek Poirier. The Jets came out strong but couldn’t find the back of the net for the first half of the first period. Once the Jets did find the net it was all smoothe sailing from there! The game saw some very strong two way play by eventual player of the game Haven Wiebe. While he wasn’t on the scoresheet for goals he most certainly was a game changer that helped the Jets win 8-0 and Derek a shutout thanks to his strong play in net.
The Jets then hosted the Northern Knights Sunday afternoon in St. Adolphe. With the Knights coming off a loss to the Flyers the night before, the Jets were hoping to take advantage of their fatigue and short bench. The Knights came out strong and put the first goal on the board. With Derek Poirier in net again due to an injury to Zaiden McDonald-Horvath the Jets rallied and quickly tied the game and then went up 3-1. The Jets didn’t look back and ended up winning 8-2 in a physical affair. The player of the game was the first repeat player in Logan Barnabe who led the way with six goals!
The SW Jets improve their record to 7-1. They now hit the road to Kenora for a Friday evening match-up (first of the season against them) and then host the Snipers in St. Malo on Sunday.
