Justin Kautz hits and pitches Sioux Falls West to 5-4 victory

Justin Kautz was strong at the plate and on the rubber in carrying Sioux Falls West to a 5-4 victory over Saskatoon on Sunday at Harmodon. Kautz paced SF West at the plate. Kautz went 1-3 and scored two runs. He doubled in the fifth inning. Saskatoon couldn’t get anything going so long as Kautz was on the hill. Kautz held Saskatoon hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two. Austin Wise got the win for West . He allowed four runs over six innings. He struck out three, walked three and surrendered seven hits.
Graham Forrester was the game’s losing pitcher. He lasted just three innings, walked one, struck out three, and allowed one run. The top of the first saw Saskatoon take an early lead, 3-0. Garrett Krawchuk doubled to ignite Saskatoon’s offense. A groundout by Eric Clauson then moved Krawchuk from second to third. Nolan Machibroda doubled, scoring Krawchuk. Saskatoon pushed more runs across when Machibroda scored on a two-run home run by Shane Soderberg. SF West scored one run in each of the first, second and fifth. In the first, Sioux Falls West scored on an error, bringing home Ryan Benson.
