Errors cost Dbacks

CAIRNS, SK- After trading errors and runs in the first inning, the Dbacks looked to be rolling building a 4-1 lead after 4 innings behind a strong pitching performance of Shane Soderberg. However, it was not to be as the Cubs scored 3 in the 4^th and 4 in both the 6^th and 7^th innings to beat the Dbacks 12-6. Soderberg pitched 5 innings allowing 4 earned runs on 7 hits with 1 BB. Matt Scott pitched the 6^th inning allowing 4 runs on 1 hit with 3 BB and 1 K. Bryce Libke pitched a third of an inning allowing 2 runs on 1 hit with a BB. Jarred Thompson pitched the 7^th inning clean.

Offensively the Dbacks were led by Nolan Machibroda who was 3 for 4 with 2 RBIs and Jordan Malainey who was 3 for 4 with an RBI. Garrett Krawchuk and Jayden McKim were both 2 for 5 while Ryan Olchoway and Matt Scott were both 1 for 3. Graham Forrester rounded out the offence going 1 for 2 with an RBI.

The DBacks now travel to Minneapolis to participate in the Gopher Classic.
