A landmark gold medal in baseball was among the highlights for Team Saskatchewan during the first half of the Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg.

On Friday, Saskatchewan won the multi-sport event’s baseball title for the first time, defeating Manitoba 3-1.
Muenster’s Logan Hofmann, the winning pitcher, allowed five hits and one run in six innings. Brody Frerichs of Muenster, Connor Sparks of Saskatoon and Ryan Olchoway of Saskatoon scored the runs for Saskatchewan. Sparks had two of Saskatchewan’s six hits.
Team Saskatchewan’s roster also included: Bryce Libke, Blake Pongracz, Erik Trakalo and Devon Farrell, all of Saskatoon; Dylan Solie, Brandon Logan and Dylan Edmands, all of Regina; Jayden Huls and Rylan Marianchuk, both of Humboldt; Kendall Keller of Pilot Butte; Ben Pelechaty of Martensville; Jaydon Gartner of Lloydminster; Gregor Farquharson of Saltcoats; Tyler McWillie of Watrous; Logan Fritzke of Swift Current; and, Garrett Hawkins of Biggar.
