Frogs overpower the Raymond

The Bird Island Bullfrogs defeated the Raymond Rockets 12-0 in 7 innings on Wednesday night, in a Cornbelt League matchup.
A fairly close game early turned into a rout by a 7 run 6th inning.
After a scoreless two innings, the Frogs got on the board in the 3rd inning with 4 runs. Ben Maiers led off with a single, followed by a walk by Elliot Serbus. Maiers scored on a single by Shawn Dollerschell. Serbus scored on a fielder’s choice hit by Tyler Hebrink. Dylan Gass then walked to load the bases. Mark Neubauer then hit a clutch two out single to drive in both Serbus and Hebrink.
The Frogs added 1 run in the 5th, when Hebrink led off the inning with a double and scored on a single by Neubauer.
The Frogs opened it up, scoring 7 in the 6th inning. Logan Swann who was celebrating his 20th birthday on Wednesday, led off the inning with a double. Hebrink followed with a single and Dylan Gass walked the bases loaded. Pinch hitter Tyler Seehusen had his biggest hit of his Frogs young career when he hit a grand slam over the right field fence. Logan Sandgren followed it up with a single and Maiers then had a double. Sandgren scored on a single by Elliot Serbus, and Maiers scored on a fielder’s choice to give the Frogs a 12-0 lead.
That was more than enough runs for starting pitcher Jesse Bjur, who pitched all 7 innings for the win. Bjur scattered 4 hits over 7 innings, striking out 10 batters while walking only 2. Bjur improves his record to 3-0 on the season.
The Frogs improve to 5-1 in Cornbelt League play, and 13-3 overall.
The Frogs take another shot at tournament play this weekend, playing in the High Life Tournament in Gaylord and Arlington. The Frogs open up against St Francis on Friday night in Gaylord at 8:45 PM.
