Bird Island wins playoff opener

No. 2-seed Bird Island advanced with a late surge, scoring five in the seventh inning to down Sacred Heart.
Shawn Dollerschell capped the rally with a two-run homer, and Logan Sandgren and Ben Maiers each had RBI doubles in the inning.
Sandgren and Mark Neubauer each had two hits for the Bullfrogs, and Dylan Gass picked up the win in relief.
Bird Island next plays 7:30 p.m. Friday when they host Milroy.
