Supers Season Ends in Extras
Posted July 30, 2013
Game three of the best of three semi final series between the Canora Supers and Langenburg was a repeat of game two, as the game went one extra inning in front of a big crowd. Unfortunately for the Supers, the result was not the same as Derek Haberstock's two run home run in the top of the eighth inning solidified a 3-1 victory for the Indians, winning the series two games to one.
Logan Parachoniak started on the hill for the Supers and pitched a gem. He gave up just two hits, three runs (one earned), three strikeouts and two walks in 7 2/3 innings. Unfortunately, poor run support and a few costly errors was the Supers downfall as Logan took the loss. The Indians got another tremendous pitching performace from Kody Hartung and Dane Kobylko as Kobylko picked up the win.
The Supers bats were non existent as they could only generate one run on two hits. Travis Fogg had a single while Trevor Latham had an rbi double in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game 1-1. In the bottom of the fourth, the Supers had runners on first and second with none out, but could not put any runs on the board.
Unfortunately the Supers season is now over. In April, the team almost folded as there was a lack of players, and no representation at the league meeting as manager Greg Andreychuk had stepped down. Fortunately, a few players from Yorkton needed a place to play, Evan Rostotski agreed to be the team Manager, and the Supers were able to be revived. The team finished second in the regular season standings with 11 wins and 3 losses. All in all, it was a great season. The boys enjoyed playing together and the future looks bright. The Supers would like to thank all of their sponsors and fans for their support.
