Supers Defeat Reds in Home Opener

Opening day finally took place for the Supers after three previously cancelled games, and the wait was worth it as the Supers claimed a 5-3 victory over the visiting Swan River Reds
After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first, the Supers received a much needed shot in the arm in the bottom half of the first as Kody Rock belted a grand slam over the left center wall to put the Supers in the lead for good.
Kory Achtymichuk had two doubles, a single and a run scored from the leadoff position to help set the tone for the Supers offence. Batting second in the order, Scott Sharp had three singles and a run scored to also start the season off strong.
Derek Palagian, Logan Parachoniak, and Adam Korb each had one hit apiece. The Supers had eleven hits total.
Logan Parachoniak had a fine outing on the mound, pitching a complete game to get the win. He gave up three runs (two earned), six hits, and had an impressive twelve strikeouts.
The Reds offence was led by Nic Schneider with three hits, three runs scored and four stolen bases, Evan Morden had a single and two rbi's. Brendan Fedorchuk (4 1/3 innings) and Carter Watkins (1 2/3 innings) shared the pitching duties.
With the win, the Supers record is 1-0, The next game will be Monday, May 25 as the Russell Bulls visit Al Sapieha Field. First pitch is slated for 6:15 pm
