Posted July 12, 2018
The Supers finished the regular season in fourth place setting up a round 1 playoff series with the Back Forty Brewers. The series ended in a Supers sweep with 17-3 and 7-6 victories.
Game 1: Canora Supers 17 Back Forty Brewers 3
On Tuesday July 10 the Supers hosted the Brewers at Al Sapieha Field. On this evening everything went right for the Supers as they scored multiple runs in four of the first five innings in a 17-3 victory.
Derek Palagian started on the mound and dominated for five innings. He allowed just two hits with four strikeouts to get the win. Darcy Blommaert pitched the final inning to close things out.
Offensively the Supers had 17 runs on 15 hits as Sean Kolodziejski, Logan Parachoniak, Evan Rostotski and Ian Quewezance each had multi hit games, including a three run homer from Parachoniak. The Brewers committed five errors to make things more difficult on themselves as they were handcuffed all evening.
Game 2: Supers 7 Brewers 6
The following evening in Yorkton started off seemingly the same as the Supers scored four times in the first three innings to take a 4-1 lead. In the top of the sixth the Supers put up three more runs to extend the lead to 7-1 with the game under control as Kholton Shewchuk had only given up one run on three hits. But in the bottom of the sixth the Brewers battled one hitter at a time and took advantage of a couple errors to pull within one to 7-6. In the bottom of the seventh Colby Parachoniak came in for the save opportunity and slammed the door on the Brewers to preserve the 7-6 win.
Clint Maduck led the way offensively with a single, double and two runs scored. Logan Parachoniak had two singles and a run, while Sean Kolodziejski had three runs scored.
With the win the Supers await the finish of the two other series to determine their next opponent. Round two will be a best of three series and is expected to start by approximately July 18
