Wins Over Marlins and Legends

Posted June 27, 2021

The Supers hosted a pair of games on Tuesday June 22 and Wednesday June 23. Both were victories in front of good crowds on warm days.

June 22 - Supers 6 Yorkton Marlins 0

The Supers played their first ever game against the Yorkton Marlins, with a grand total of seven former Supers suiting up for their home town squad. Supers ace Kody Rock toed the rubber, and was in mid season form as he allowed just three hits, no runs and 13 strikeouts in a decisive 6-0 victory.

The offense started off nicely with three runs in the top of the first, and finished off with three runs in the bottom of the sixth. Rock padded the scoresheet with two hits, including a long home run, two stolen bases, two runs and two rbi's. Kholton Shewchuk woke up from early season struggles with three hits in three at bats while also picking up two rbi's. Travis Mentanko and Greg Pelechaty each had a double. Sean Kolodziejski, Ian Quewezance, Zach Rakochy, and Chet Bornhorst each picked up a single apiece. Bornhorst made his first appearance as a Super by way of the Muenster region.

June 23 - Supers 13 Langenburg Legends 8

On wednesday the Legends came to town, with a heavy wind blowing out to left field. After their first five hitters they had five runs on the board, and things looked bleak. But the pitching settled down afterward, the bats woke up, and when all was said and done the Supers emerged victorious.

Derek Palagian made his first pitching start in almost two years, going three innings allowing seven runs. Greg Pelechaty pitched three innings and allowed just one run while picking up the win. Darcy Blommaert came in for a 1-2-3 seventh inning to close up shop to preserve the lead.

The offence was in fine form as sixteen hits were put on the board. Kody Rock had three, including a double and two massive home runs. He scored four runs and had five rbi's. Evan Rostotski, Jason Waldbauer, Kholton Shewchuk, and Jayden Heskin each collected two hits apiece. Phil Sobkow, Travis Mentanko and Zach Rakochy each had one hit.

The two wins put the Supers record at 3-1. The crowd support was tremendous for both games. Supers players and staff would like to thank everyone for coming out and supporting the team.

The next action will be Wednesday, June 30 as the Yorkton 18U Cardinals will come to town. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM
