Supers Win Slugfest in Melville

The Supers took the one hour drive to Melville on Monday, July 12 to take on the Parkland Pirates. It was a close game all the way through, but the Supers took advantage of a few Pirate miscues, and in the end put up a few crooked numbers on the board in a 12-8 victory.

The offence tallied 14 hits, highlighted by a pair from Supers rookie call up Logan Wolkowski from the Parkland 18U AA Expos. He also played well at second base in his Supers debut. Kholton Shewchuk filled up the stat sheet with a single and two doubles to go along with two runs and five runs batted in. Kody Rock had a pair of singles, two runs and two stolen bases. Greg Pelechaty had a double and two singles. Jayden Heskin had a double and two runs scored. Greg Andreyhuk, Darcy Blommaert, and Taber Ebert each had one hit apiece. 

Darcy Blommaert pitched five innings and gave up five runs (four earned) with five strikeouts for a no decision. Jayden Heskin pitched the sixth inning and recorded the win, while Greg Pelechaty pitched a scoreless 7th inning to slam the door.

With the win the Supers are now 7-1 on the season. The final two games of the regular season will be Wednesday July 14 at 8:30 PM in Yorkton vs the Marlins, and Thursday July 15 at 6:15 in Yorkton vs the Marlins once again. If the Supers win one of the two remaining games they will finish first in the regular season standings, and will have home field advantage throughout the playoffs
