Supers Draw First Blood
Posted July 20, 2021
On Monday July 19 the Supers hosted the Parkland Pirates in game one of the best of three semi-final playoff series. An early flurry of runs was more than enough for pitcher Kody Rock to throw his fifth complete game of the season in as many attempts in a 10-1 Supers victory.
Travis Mentanko set the tone early with a two run home run in the bottom of the first. In the bottom of the 2nd, Zach Rakochy belted a two run double, followed by Rock's two run homer to give the Supers a 7-0 lead. The bats fell asleep for a few innings, but woke up in the bottom of the sixth as Phil Sobkow lead off with a pinch hit home run, followed by another rbi double by Rakochy.
The Supers tallied twelve hits total. Rakochy and Ian Quewezance led the way with three hits each. Sean Kolodziejski, Kholton Shewchuk, and Jayden Heskin each had a single. Mentanko, Rock, and Sobkow each hit a home run.
Kody was his usual self on the hill with another complete game victory. He gave up one earned run on just three hits with nine strikeouts and no walks in dominant fashion.
With the win the Supers need one more win to make it to the Southeast Senior Baseball League final. The next action will be Wednesday, July 20 at 7:30 PM in Melville vs the Pirates
