Supers Take Game 1
Posted July 27, 2021
On Monday July 26 the Yorkton Marlins took the half hour journey north to take on the Supers in the opening game of the Southeast Senior Baseball League best of five final series. They were amped up all game long, but by the end of the evening their energy level fizzled out as they ran into Kody Rock once again. Rock tossed a complete game, allowing just two unearned runs, four hits, and fourteen strikeouts in a Supers 8-2 victory.
The Supers drew first blood as cleanup hitter Travis Mentanko crushed a two run home run in the bottom of the first for a 2-0 lead. In his next at bat in the bottom of the tird, he one upped himself with a three run home run to put the game virtually out of reach. After the Marlins scored two runs on a couple of fielding miscues, Zach Rakochy matched it with a two run shot of his own. Rock would go yard for good measure in the bottom of the sixth to seal the deal.
The Supers had each starter in the batting order record at least one hit, with fourteen total. With the win the Supers take a 1-0 lead in the best of five final. Game two is slated for Wednesday, July 28 at 8:30 PM under the lights at Jubilee Park in Yorkton
