Girls Golf Team Places 4th at Regionals

The Clear Lake Girls Golf team landed 4th place at the Class 5A Region III Golf Tournament held at Eagle Pointe Golf Club in Mont Belvieu last week.   With a two day team total of 657, the Falcons were just 7 strokes back from qualifying for the State Tournament this year in Austin.

First day of play was suspended due to stormy weather conditions, shortly after the Falcons had scored in at the turn tied for 2nd place.  Through nine holes, the Falcons had posted an awesome 153 . . . including Kari Bush 34, Maggie Fulcher 38, Abby Pierpoline 42, Jamie Treece 39 and Kayla Brown 42.

Play was then continued the following day which left most teams, including the Falcons, with 27 holes to play in adverse weather conditions. The Lady Falcons held strong, and were in 3rd as the first round came to completion, then without breaking had to play on for another 18 holes. . . . Needless to say, it was a long day of golf.  The Lady Falcons played their hearts out and gave it their all to the very end coming up just a few strokes short from being able to attend the State Tournament in a very competitive field.

Falcon sophomore, Kari Bush, placed 2nd as an overall individual scoring just one over par for the 36 hole tournament with rounds of 73-72.This huge accomplishment entitles Kari to attend the State Tournament in Austin, as a Medalist to represent the Lake Falcons. Congratulations to Kari!

The tournament will be held April 28-29, at Onion Creek Golf Club.  Anyone wishing to follow the Texas UIL 5A State Tournament live scoring can do so at the Texas Golf Association  website.   Go Lake Falcons!
