The 1920 Fort Worth Panthers were owned and managed by Hiram McGar a well known businessman he had owned a saloon at 109 E. 10th street before it burned down in 1912 during one of Fort Worth's ugliest moments. The team played at McGar Park near Panther Park.
The Panthers played what is today known as small ball, they played fast scoring without getting the ball out of the infield. The team played in front of capacity crowds.
The team was known as the Fort Worth Black Panthers and played some games in the stopsix park according to some news reports.
Players were known by nicknames like High pockets and Big Red aka (Black Bambino) the papers at the time only used the players nickname.
The Panthers also played games at Lagrave Field, some of the players who did have their names known were Bob Bailey,pitchers Johnnie Steel Arm Harris Bill Haines.
