Game
Notes:
Another close game that the Brewers ended up on the losing end of, wasting another good pitching performance in the process. The Brewers played the game without starting second baseman and 3 hole hitter Brad Hundt, who was called to duty 15 minutes before game time. Hundt arrived back for th 9th inning and gave a Darran Greene fastball a long ride to centerfield that was run down by Hamburg's Scott Argenbright. Errors hurt the Brewers as Wiblemo hurled 6 innings, allowing only 1 earned run on 5 hits while striking out 5. Style pitched the final three innings allowing only 3 baserunners while striking out 3 and not giving up a hit. The story of the Brewers season thus far is the lack of hitting. In their first two games the Brewers have only mustered 2 runs on 11 hits. The Brewers were led offensively against Hamburg by Tony Paggen who was 2 for 3 with a walk. The Brewers got doubles from Grant Grochow and Stephen Wiblemo in the 3rd that tied the score at two. John Thell had the other hit for the Brewers. Summary: Hamburg gets two unearned runs in the 3rd. Glencoe answers with two runs in their half of the third when Kraby walked with one out and Grochow doubled down the left field line putting runners on second and third. After Scott Wawrzyniak grounded out weakly to third Wiblemo came up with two out and belted a double down the left field line off Hamburg starter Craig Allison. Both runners scored tying the score at 2. Wiblemo was stranded on second when Marc Wawrzyniak hit a ball into the left centerfield gap that was run down by Hamburg leftfielder Taz Siebert. Hamburg got two runs, one of which was earned, in their half of the 5th inning thanks to a Scott Wawrzyniak error at first base followed by a two run double to deep centerfield by Scot Argenbright, Hamburg's centerfielder. That ended the scoring for both teams and Hamburg won the ball game 4-2. |
