Notes:
Slow start, but eventually ended it in eight innings. Great effort by the Brew Crew as we sent off Tony (Juan) Beringer as he heads to the East Coast this week for most of the summer. Wibs got the win on the hill, Scott closed out the final two innings. Brewers 10-run New Germany Brew Crew battles back from early Schrupp HR to beat New G 12-2 in 8 innings. Wibs gets the win on the mound, and also finds out that Schrupp can hit bombs in the New G coliseum. Brewers welcome Matt Goddel (sp?) to the team, and Cody (CC Rider) Christensen makes his debut and starts his path to 3,000 career hits as he goes 1 for 1 on the day. The Crew also enjoyed Tony Beringers farewell game as he is heading out east to greener pastures. In his farewell tour, Tony played a stellar short stop and can add that position to his resume. Good luck in your adventure Tony! Two Brewie Awards #1 - Jason Schade converting on a swinging bunt, and right before he gets to first base, was told by someone that the baseline turns into a slip and slide, and dared him to dive head first on it...he did, and slid on his belly to the right field corner. If anyone watched the Twins old timers game last year, and remembered when Hrbek removed a chunk of sod with his knee, well Schade made a crater behind first base that New G parked their lawn tractor in after the game. #2 - Jaden Ford - this is his second Brewie of the short season. Jaden once again tried yelling to his father after the Brewers take the field that "he has to go potty", so being the great Assistant Manager I am, I take Jaden behind the dugout, and tell him to let er rip. After he gets the crowd to turn away, he proceeds to drop everything well below the ankles, and blasted the back wall of the New G dugout. I think some blocks may be loose with the force that little man was putting into it. Congratulation Jaden as you are the team leader in Brewies :) |
