Posted May 18, 2017
The Tigers and Goodpasture faced off for the Region 4A Championship game Wednesday for the 5th time this season. The Tigers and the Cougars traded runs throught he first few innings as the the Tigers were up 7-4 going into the bottom of the fourth, but the Cougars put a 7 spot up on the Tigers in the fourth to take an 11-7 lead and never looked back as they cruised to a 17-8 victory. With the new pitch count rule neither team wanted to waste pitching so it was almost a bullpen session with Goodpasture using four different pitchers and the Tigers using 6. Both team put up several hits as the Tigers had 12 hits as Hunter Davis had a a day as he went 4 for 4, Joey and Bobby Parliment both had 2 each and Mitchell Kirby, Leith McKinney, Luke Blackburn, and Nathaniel Hall all had 1 each. The Tigers pitched Hunter Davis, Joey Parliment, Justin Vaden, Leith McKinney, Nathaniel Hall, and Hunter Mann none of the pitchers threw 2 innings. Justin Vaden was saddled with the loss. THe Tigers were plagued by 4 errors, 6 walks, and 5 hit batters as the 15 free bases made it hard for the Tigers to stay in the game.
The TIgers will now travel to Silverdale Saturday with a trip to the State Tournament on the line. Game time has not yet been set.
