Posted May 25, 2017
Wednesday morning the Tigers and the Cherokees tangled in the tournaments first elimination game. Early morning rain and a mid game shower kept the game off schedule, but the TIger responded with dominating defensive and pitching performance, The Tigers would be taking on Greenback's ace Kayne Roberts who has signed with the Univeristy of North Carolina on a football scholarship. The game remained soreless for 3 and 1/2 innings, but the TIger squandered two great opportunities to push across runs int he first inning we left runners on first and second, and in the second we left bases loaded. Then in the bottom of the fourth Adam Goolsby took the first pitch and parked it over the fence in left center to give the TIgers a 1-0 lead. THe Cherokees answered in the 5th with back to back 1 out hits put runners on 1st and 3rd and a double steal gave them their only run and tied the game at 1-1. The Tigers respnded int he bottom of the 5th as Joey Parliment led off with a hit and stole second, HUnter Davis folleowed with a walk and then a double steal put runners on second and third, the Cherokees then intentionally walked Bobby Parliment to lead the bases with 1 out and then Adam Goolsby calmly responded by stroking a 0-2 fastball down the left field line to drive in 2 runs and give the Tigers 3-1 lead that would hold up. Offensively the TIgers had 5 hits as Adam Goolsby paced the attack with 2 hits driving in all 3 runs, Luke Blackburn, Joey Parliment, and Mitchell Kirby tacked on one hit each. Bobby Parliment got the start and pitche a complete game giving up 1 earned run off 4 hits, 1 walk, and striking out 11.
The Tigers would be back in action at 5:00 as they would take onHuntingdon for the second time in two days.
