LHS Clinches Region 3 Home Seed behind Anderson
Posted May 6, 2017
Lennox gave McCook Central their first loss of the 2017 season when Junior Josh VanHouten scored the winning run to make the final score 1 to 0.
Lennox came into Saturday's game knowing that a win would give Lennox the Region 3 Regular Season title and home field advantage through out the playoffs. Lennox's sophomore Brock Anderson was the pitcher and he absolutely dominated as he threw all 7 innings allowing zero runs on one hit while striking out 11. The defense was absolutely flawless as they allowed one hit and had zero errors holding down one of the hottest offenses in the state to zero. McCook had averaged 10 runs per game coming into tonight.

Lennox put together six hits today which led to plenty of threats. Lennox left 6 runners on base meaning Lennox had run threats in many innings. In the bottom of the seventh, Lennox finally got something going. Senior Brock Stien delivered his second single of the game. Josh VanHouten pinch ran and Ray Williams would put down a bunt to move VanHouten to second. With two outs, Sophomore Tyson Stoebner would hit a groundball to short which looked like out number three. However, the shortstop shorted his throw to first and the ball wasn't caught. This would send VanHouten towards home to score the winning run.

Lennox had gotten good news earlier in the day that due to an umpire certification issue, Canton was forced to forfeit the game with us. This meant that Lennox was now 13 and 0 and that LHS had won the Region 3 Regular Season title.

Lennox was led by the superb performance of sophomore Brock Anderson. This has been the story for the Orioles this season as Lennox's three starting pitchers each have an era under 2.
Lennox will try to do something for the first time in team history and that will be to run the table and go undefeated. Lennox is one game from doing so as Baltic comes to town on Monday, May 8th at 5:30. Baltic has been playing some good baseball lately as they have gotten two wins and one loss. Tonight's 8-2 win for Baltic over SFC gave Baltic their 3rd win of the season. Lennox will have to play their brand of "Lennox" baseball to move to 14 and 0
