2018 GRHS Longhorn Volleyball Tryouts
***Because our season starts 3 weeks before school begins, all athletes will be required to be at 2-a-days/tryouts to compete for the 2018 season. Attendance is required at all practices, games, tournaments, and volleyball events. These arrangements need to be made before athletes come to tryouts.
Tryout Dates: August 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
Team Practices Begin: August 3rd (evening session)
Scrimmage: August 4th
First Match: August 7th
*All athletes must attend tryouts to make a volleyball team at George Ranch.
*It is highly recommended for athletes trying out for the 2018 volleyball season to participate in the Longhorn Strength and Conditioning Summer Camp held Monday-Thursday at George Ranch High School in order to be in "in-season" shape for tryouts/2-a-days. The conditioning done at tryouts/2-a-days is different than the court endurance that comes with just playing volleyball. Athletes should be lifting weights, doing plyometrics, and agilities to be ready for August 1st. More information regarding our 2018 Summer Strength and Conditioning Camp will be posted on the website soon.
*Be ready to work and compete at tryouts! Stand out by doing every rep correctly, verbally supporting your teammates, and being coachable. Make eye contact with coaches when they're talking or coaching you.
*Bring a water bottle!
*Must arrive at 7:30 am on the first day to get checked in on time. We will start our workouts immediately upon the completion of check-in. Remember that this is your first impression for the 2018 season and for freshman, for your high school playing career.
*For our conditioning track workout and testing, you do not need to wear volleyball gear. For court testing and drills, you must wear volleyball gear including knee pads (and ankle braces if you have them).
*The 2018 GRHS Longhorn Volleyball Tryout Information and Schedule Packet will be available under the "Handouts" tab prior to summer break.
