Indoor Track State Meet

Our indoor track team traveled up to Birmingham for the indoor track state championship. In the shot put, Bruce Davis finished in 4th throwing 47 feet 4 ½ inches. In the pole vault, our guys dominated. Brooks Gibson and Jacob Zakutney cleared 13 feet to finish in 2nd and 3rd, only finishing behind the number 1 pole vaulter in the country. In the long jump Braden Turner finished in 2nd place jumping 21 feet and 5 inches! And in the triple jump, Braden jumped for 44 feet 10.5 inches to be the state champion, and teammate Anthony Eager was right behind him jumping over 43 feet (that’s longer than a school bus!) to come in 3rd. Eager showed off his blazing speed in the 60 meter hurdles coming in 2nd with a time of 8.44 seconds. In the high jump, Ryan O’Donnell cleared 5’10” to come in 4th, and Ella Keaton is the state champion for the girls high jump clearing 5’7”!

On the Track

On the track, the girls 4x800 team consisting of Abby Ferlise, Lizzie Porr, Lexi Bolton, and Sally Pape ran it in 9 minutes and 54 seconds to finish in 3rd. And in the 800 Lizzie came in 6th with a time of 2 minutes 23 seconds. Look out he can fly! Freshman William Porr broke his own school record from a week ago running the 2 mile in 9 minutes 44 seconds. It was a great overall weekend for the track team and the guys capped it off bringing home a red map coming in 2nd place.
