The Mystique is an instructional fastpitch softball organization based in the Northern Indiana/Southern Michigan area which sponsors 10U. 12U, 14U, 16U & 18U fastpitch softball teams. The teams are coached and managed by non-parental individuals who have significant experience coaching and/or playing at the collegiate level. Our program's objective is to maximize the growth of softball fundamentals and skills in each player. We provide a practice facility to all players 24/7 at no extra cost. Beginning at the 14U level we begin to focus on opportunities for players who have the desire to transition to the collegiate level. To pursue these goals, players at the 14U, 16U & 18U level participates in various showcase tournaments with the ultimate goal being to compete at the national tournaments and showcase our players to college coaches.
The Mystique was founded in the fall of 1999 and is entering our 20th season of competition. It is led by Dawn Austin. Dawn pitched and played outfield for Penn State University after graduating from Elkhart Central H.S. Having received All-Big Ten honors as a senior she began her coaching career at the University of Notre Dame in the fall of 1993. In 1996 she took a position as Head Coach at Goshen College which allowed her to raise her 2 children, Brett and Kiley. She coached at Goshen for seven years. After resigning that position she was asked back as a volunteer assistant at Notre Dame and remained on the staff for seven years before accepting her current coaching position at Concord High School which allowed her to coach her daughter for four years. Having coached at several levels she has helped guide the Mystique organization to regional prominence.
The organization is a family and all coaches; Rachel Solmos, Elaine Miller, Santana Bozman, Erin Burleson, Dan Berry, Cassie Boocher, Dave Walker, Clark Widmoyer, McKenzie Loge, Allie Woods, interact and assist all players regardless of team affiliation. Players will connect and respond to someone on our coaching staff which allows for the growth and development of every player in our organization.
