Rebels Set (Probably Shatter) PBL Record

Posted May 15, 2013

The Ryley Rebels undoubtably set a PBL record on Saturday afternoon when they sported an infield that weighed in at 1,492 lbs against the Bardo Athletics. In the sixth and seventh innings, the Rebels ran out the following infield;

1B – Kyle Reinholt – 6’3″and 287 lbs
2B – Craig Koughan – 6’4″ and 260 lbs
SS – Brian Tavaroli – 5’11” and 195 lbs
3B – Travis Bugge – 6’2″ and 280 lbs
C – Kevin Reinholt – 6’3″ and 240 lbs
P – Kris Kushnerick – 6’3″ and 230 lbs

While there may have been bigger players in the PBL’s history, and it would be great to debate who the biggest PBLer of all time is/was, it is hard to argue that there has been a bigger collection of big men then what the Rebels run out on to the field game in and game out. The Rebels were also without SS Dylan Solberg who is 6’3″ and 220 lbs and the 6’5″ 250 lb Dustin Solberg and it will be a couple of seasons before youngster Blake Helgeland starts to really fill out his 6’2″ frame.

There was a baseball game that was played last night between the Milleteers and the Rebels which ended in a 5-5 tie after 8 innings, but this was clearly the most important news to come out of the game along with the Leduc umpires coming over to the Rebels dugout to look for beer after the game. It is unclear if the Leduc cooler was empty or if in fact there was no cooler even present, but either way umpires having to troll for beer post game in the visitors dugout should at least be some sort of league issued fine.

Rebels will now travel to Armena to take on Dean Prpic and the rest of the Royals on Thursday night.
