UPDATE: Chuckers at Nationals & Westerns
Posted August 8, 2013
A total of seven players from the 2013 Chuckers Bantam AAA program were picked up and added to Team BC rosters...
Although the team goal of winning a provincial championship fell short in Kamloops, individual successes continued as seven of our players received and accepted invitations to join teams heading to the Baseball Canada Bantam National Championships and the Western Canadian Bantam Championships.
Joining the provincial champion Cloverdale Spurs, who became Team BC at the Nationals, were Tyler Hoefer and Noah Or (see photo). Team BC won Silver Medals, losing to a strong Ontario squad in the final.
Joining the provincial runner-up Vancouver Mounties, who became Team BC at the Westerns, were Spencer Rankin, Mackenzie Marquis and Ryder Mavis. Although Team BC did not medal, they did win some close games with late inning heroics, making an exciting run during the tournament.
Joining the Aldergrove Dodgers, as host team at the Westerns, were Mitchell Rennie and Isaiah Hayes. The host Dodgers had a great tournament and ended up winning Gold Medals.
In addition to the above, Logan Newman and James Hardy headed to the Senior Northwest Championships in Centralia, Washington (aka as the PNCs). There they were joined by Chuckers coaches Ryan Klenman and Troy Pennock as part of the Baseball BC High Performance program, representing BC against the top 2016 grads from Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming.
Congratulations to all of our players who went on to make an impact with their respective teams. The team is proud you were able to represent the program and the province of BC!
