3rd annual golf tourney a success
Posted June 1, 2013
The St. Peter town team hosted its 3rd annual golf tournament on Friday at Shoreland Country Club. The rain held off and it turned out to be a beautiful day on the links, where the Saints raised over $4,000.
After the first year of the annual outing, the Saints used the funds to purchase new jerseys and equipment. Last year, a brand new screen fence was installed at Veterans Field, foul pole-to-foul pole along with the acquisition of two portable pitching mounds for bullpens. This year, the team plans to use the funds raised to take care of a few basic needs and save up to help contribute to larger field improvement projects at Veterans Field in the near future. Plans are in the works for a new backstop, grandstand, press box, batting cage improvements and spectator viewing areas. The Saints are committed to help make Veterans Field a top-tier venue for baseball in south-central Minnesota.
The local nine would like to thank all 78 golfers that participated as well as the businesses that contributed prizes and, of course, the hole sponsors: Pell Real Estate & Insurance, K & K Wenner Farms, Red Men Club, Wenner-Underwood Farms, Thrivent Financial, Patrick’s on Third, The Friendly Confines Cheese Shoppe, HomeTown Bank, First National Bank, Nielsen Blacktopping, Keeley Landscaping, Anytime Fitness, Autotronics, 4 the Team, Dominos, Godfathers, Bolton & Menk, Cambria, Home Town Travel, Flame Bar, Nicollet County Bank, Mankato YMCA, Eide Bailly, Ameriprise, Brian Wenner and Gustavus Baseball.
