Town Team blasts Henderson 21-4

St. Peter town team collected 21 hits in blasting Henderson 21-4 in seven innings Wednesday at Veterans Field.

The Saints won their sixth straight, improving to 10-8 overall and 8-4 in the River Valley League. St. Peter hosts Belle Plaine at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The Tigers dropped to 4-14 overall and 3-11 in the RVL. The Tigers host Le Sueur at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

The Saints scored all of their runs in the first four innings. St. Peter took a 5-0 lead in the first inning and never let up in the next three innings, scoring six runs in the second, eight in the third and three in the fourth.

The Tigers cut the lead to 5-2 with two runs in the fifth and scored a run the third and fourth innings to make it 19-4, but the Saints were too far ahead to catch up.

Six St. Peter players had multiple hits.

Ryan Kapser led the Saints' hitting attack, going 5 for 6 with five runs and three RBIs.

Andy Regner batted 3 for 4 with three runs and three RBIs.

CJ Siewert went 3 for 5 with three runs and four RBIs.

Sam Wenner hit 2 for 3 with four runs.

Billy Hanson went 2 for 3 with two runs and two RBIs.

Parker Baron finished 2 for 5 with two runs and three RBIs.

Jeff Menk batted 1 for 4 with two runs and three RBIs.

Nate Wenner went 1 for 4 with one run and two RBIs.

Jeremy Braun batted 1 for 2 with a run.

Kevin Sandborg hit 1 for 2 with a run and two RBIs.

Luke Frauendienst led the Tigers' seven-hit attack, going 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Five others had a hit each. Grant Miller went 1 for 4 with two runs. Jesse Kaelberer batted 1 for 4 with an RBI. Grant Becker finished 1 for 3 with an RBI. Matt Graham hit 1 for 4. Caleb Radloff went 1 for 1.

St. Peter starting pitcher Kevin Sandborg picked up the victory. He pitched four innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits, one walk and one strikeout. Sam Wenner pitched the fifth with two strikeouts and one walk. Jeremy Braun pitched the sixth and seventh innings, giving up one hit and striking out two.

Henderson starting pitcher Adam Arnst lasted two innings, allowing 11 runs (nine earned) on nine hits, one walk and no strikeouts. Dawson Molter pitched the last four innings, giving up 10 runs (eight earned) on 11 hits, five walks and two strikeouts.
