Game Recap: Suffern vs New Rochelle

A week after a home opener that ended in dramatic fashion, Suffern took on New Rochelle at Sport-O-Rama for the second game of the season. New Rochelle had played the night before, winning a close one over White Plains 3-2; Suffern, who had not played a game since last Friday, would end up capitalizing on this. Similar to their game against Northern Highlands, Suffern came flying right out of the gate and would take the lead just under two minutes into the game. Three mintues later after McCarren's goal, Schelling would score following to a stellar play made by Werfel. Just before the horn sounded, Burns managed to bank a goal in off New Rochelle's goalie to make it 3-0 heading into the second period. After taking a commanding lead, the Mounties would go on to add six more goals, making it 9-1 by the end of the second period. Seniors Fennel, Katz and Balk combined to score four points in the period, while defenseman Colin Nolan had two assists. Foward Chris Smith would score his first goal as a varsity player, making it 9-1. In the third period, Ray Tyrell would make it 10-1 with a goal on the power play. By the end of the game, twleve different Mounties notched at least one point.
