Attention all interested 2003/2004 born players, tryouts for the 2018 West Coast (Vancouver Minor and Tri City merge) 15U Bantam AAA team will commence on February 3rd. There are currently 5 evaluation sessions and 1 scrimmage scheduled for the tryout process. Due to the high number of prospective players expected to try out this year, two player reductions are in place for the tryout process. Player reductions will be made after the 3rd and 4th tryout respectively, all players who attended Tryouts #1 and/or 3 will be informed (via. email) if they are invited out to Tryout #4. LIkewise, all players who attended Tryout #4 will be informed (via. email) if they are invited out to Tryouts #5. The plan is to announce the full 15U AAA roster on February 19th.

NOTE: Player Reductions #1 (scheduled for Feb 5th) will ONLY be made if the Sunday February 4th outdoor tryout goes through as scheduled. If the Feb 4th outdoor tryout is cancelled (due to weather) there will be no player reductions made on Feb 5th and all prospective players will be allowed to attend Tryout #3. The first round of player reductions will occur between the 2nd and 3rd tryout.

NOTE: Even after player reductions players who did not attend previous tryout sessions will be allowed to tryout (this includes players not in the Vancouver Minor/Tri City boundary).

Tryouts will utilize the following locations: Riverview Park (700 Clearwater Way, Coquitlam), Gordon Park (6675 Commercial St, Vancouver), Inside Performance (1500 Railway St, North Vancouver), Futbol5 (109 Braid St, New Westminster) and The Ballyard at SportsCentral (2611 Viscount Way, Richmond). Tryouts held at Inside Performance, Futbol5 and The BallYard at SportsCentral are rain or shine while tryouts at Riverview Park and Gordon Park are weather dependent, a mass email (1-2 hours before the tryout's start time) will ONLY be sent out IF CANCELLED due to weather.

Please try to attend if not all, as many tryout dates as possible so that the coaching staff can evaluate each player's ability thoroughly.

The coaching staff will take numerous criteria (skill level, athleticism, strength, speed, maturity, commitment, attendance, positional efficiency/deficiency and work ethic) into account when selecting the 2018 West Coast 15U AAA team.

NOTE: If you do not reside in the Vancouver Minor, Coquitlam-Moody or Port Coquitlam boundary, you will need an approved tryout release from Pat Weatherill (BC Minor Eligibility Chair) before attending your first tryout with us. If you are unsure on how to obtain one, please contact your home association's Bantam division director.

Information about 15U Bantam AAA

The 15U Bantam AAA is a single season league, this means that unlike most other BC Baseball divisions, where there are separate spring and summer teams, 15U AAA teams stay together for the entire season (March - August). The schedule will include exhibition games, league (regular season) games, tournaments and provincials.  At the end of the season, players can expect to have played around 60-70 games. Players can also expect to be on the field 4-5 days a week. Practice and potentially one league game will occur on weekdays while majority of the league games are scheduled on both weekend days, please know that four game weekends are common in this league. There will be 3 teams on the island and 2 teams from the interior in the league so travel will be neccessary, expect to travel to the island/interior for LEAGUE games an average of 2.5 times (will depend on how teams are split up into tiers)

A high level of commitment at the 15U AAA level is expected come April, the coaching staff understands that other sports (hockey, soccer etc.) may take precedence in March and we fully respect that. That being said, when the calender turns to April the coaching staff will expect full commitment from all players on the current roster as baseball should be first priority in regards to extra-curricular activities.

The cost per player for 2018 15U Bantam AAA will total $1650 with the addition of expenses such as team apparel (hoodie), team outings/dinnners, travelling/lodging costs. When registering, all Bantam players will pay a base registration fee, if selected to the Bantam AAA team then the Bantam AAA fee will added on top of the Bantam base registration fee. The Bantam AAA fee covers coaches, uniforms, tournaments, Baseball BC Qualifier, umpires, indoor training sessions throughout March, insurance and adminstration costs.

The 15U AAA division is not for everyone. To see if the 15U AAA division is for you or if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us at vanminor15ubaseball@gmail.com.
