 WBHS Girls Basketball Booster Club
Minutes – November 9, 2011

The William Byrd High School Girls Basketball Booster Club met on Wednesday, November 9, 2011
in the WBHS Senior Cafeteria. Present were:

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m.

Officers for the 2011-2012 booster club:

Iris Trussell – Bingo Coordinator

Introduction: President Charlotte Carver welcomes everyone to the booster meeting and congratulates all
girls making the WBHS Lady Terriers basketball teams – JV and Varsity. Sign up sheets for Bingo, Snack
schedule, and Concession schedule are passed around for parents to sign up. Also sign in sheet was passed
around for parents to fill in contact information. New start times for JV and Varsity games, 5:30 and 7:00 pm.
Looking for someone to open concessions prior to JV games. Fran Abelseth and Heather Vinyard volunteer.
It is recommended that when providing snacks for before/after games, parents are asked to stay with a
nutritional value, fruits, granola bars, water, etc.

Finance Report: Treasurer’s report was provided by Sharon Gibbs. Account balance $11,080.37. Expenses
$1,513.51. An additional $5,000 has been placed in savings account to help pay for book grants in the future.
Projected profit for the 11-6-11 Orange Ball Classic Golf tournament $2949.82.

Motion made by Tammy Newcomb to add to budget money to purchase microwave for concessions. Motion
was seconded by Kathy Overstreet.

Upcoming Events: Scrimmage for JV and Varsity against Brookville, we will be hosting covered dish dinner
for the teams and parents on Monday, November 14, 2011 after the Varsity game in the cafeteria. Booster club
will be providing main dish, paper products, and drinks. Parents are asked to sign up and bring a covered dish.

December 8th will be a triple header starting with Middle School, JV and Varsity.
January 17th - Pack the gym night, orange effect / rec night
January 25th - Kay Yow Cancer Awareness benefit with silent auction
February 7th - Senior night

Looking for volunteers to organize and handle events. Iris Trussell volunteers to organize Senior Night. If no
volunteers sign up, functions will not be held.

Tuesday, November 15, 7:30 Mandatory Fall Sports Meeting. If you have not participated in a fall sport, you
must attend meeting.

Thursday, November17, 2011 6:00 pm there will be a WB Booster Meeting to all clubs. All club presidents and
bingo coordinators are asked to attend. The main focus of the meeting will be the continuation of gaming
for 2012 and it will be voted upon.

Bingo Report: Bingo is girl’s basketball’s biggest money maker. Money raised for bingo helps fund our
program, and all 3 teams benefit. Varsity parents are asked to work 5, JV 4 and Middle School 2. We need
EVERYONE to step up and do their part. We need parents to sign up and train for key positions such as caller,
game manager, treasurer, and instant manager. For available spots to work, check the calendar on our team

Coach’s Report:

Coach Sardin hands out the Rules and Expectations along with the Game Day Guidelines to all parents. New
rule has been implemented this year. If a player on the team decides to quit the team, she will need to obtain a
signed release from Coach Sardin prior to participating in another school sport.
