Coach Josh McGuire has been hired to start the Cross Country program at Ecclesia College.
Coach Josh brings 3 years of coaching experience as a former assistant for Grace College's Men and Women's Cross Country/Track & Field teams.
In 2012, 12 athletes from his team qualified for the NAIA Track & Field Nationals. In that same year, the Grace's men's track team earned 6 All-American awards in the NCCAA Track & Field Championships.
In 2011, McGuire helped coach a national champion when Marijean Wegert won the Indoor NCCAA Track & Field 800 meter championship.
In both 2011 and 2010, Coach Josh helped guide Grace men's cross country have had eighth-place finishes at the NCCAA Cross Country Nationals.
McGuire received the USATF Level I coaching certification in 2012.
"It is my desire to see Christ glorified through the sport of Cross Country. Glorifying Christ should be central in everything we do. This includes academics, work, and sports. I want to see my team strive for excellence in order to make much of Christ." Coach Josh said. "This is done through the little things. The little things in running, as in life, make a big difference."
As a student at Grace, McGuire competed as a varsity athlete for 4 years for Grace's Cross Country and Track teams. He also received the NAIA Champion of Character award.
McGuire graduated with a Business and Accounting degree from Grace. He will also be working as a Financial Aid Administrator at Ecclesia College. He and his wife, Angie, are excited about the opportunity to come to Springdale and to start a new program at Ecclesia College.
